Pick only the filters you care about and leave the rest alone. Then press Search and see what comes up. The prices use real rentals and today's exchange rate, and the safety levels come straight from the US State Department.

How the search decides

  • Monthly cost is budget living costs plus the cheapest rental we found, comfortable costs plus a middle-priced rental, or luxury costs plus a rental from the top quarter of what we found. For a couple, food, transport, insurance and outings rise and rent is shared.
  • Good weather uses each city's month-by-month climate (average highs, rain, and hazards such as monsoon rains, hurricanes or burning-season smoke). A month rated poor is left out.
  • Visa-free stay is the longest single stay a US passport holder can get, including standard extensions. Schengen countries share one 90-day allowance in any 180 days.
  • Retiree visa income is the lowest monthly pension or passive-income figure for a residence route, from the government page where we could read one.
